I am a huge camera fan and my favorite camera maker has been Canon. I started reading about this new Samsung and thought I'd take a chance and purchase it.
The camera is ever more amazing than I thought it would be! It is sleek, small and stylish. The camera speed is fantastic and there is very little lag time between taking shots.
I love the on touch screen design. It works really well and the added bonus of a front view screen makes this camera almost perfect!
It is very easy to use even though it has many different settings. I would recommend this camera 100%!

Make sure this is the model is you are searching for - Misty D. Wallis - Fort Worth, Texas
I was looking for the TL225. I found this one under the other New/Used vendors. It didn't have the model name in it but it did say 12.2 megapixel so I assumed it was in the right place. Wrong. The vendor was easy to work with and did refund the camera cost but not the original or return shipping. Buyer beware-Make sure you are getting what you want before buying! I did get the camera I wanted from another Amazon vendor and I LOVE it!

Poor - Jose I. Cavalli - Miami, FL
This camera was not very good. The front screen is excellent but it's the only decent feature it has. The quality of the pictures is really poor.

I'm a photographer from way back, old school, always a proponent of film cameras. This is my first digital, bought it specifically so I can shoot images and upload to sell on eBay.

I'm a believer. This camera is very easy to use, easy to set up, and takes really good photos. I picked it specifically because it was 12MP, for better quality images, and Nikon, because their optics have always been so good.

It's user friendly, intuitive controls. I barely looked at the instruction booklet. And, a snap to upload images to my computer.

Pictures are really sharp, almost look 3 dimensional. I'm having a lot of fun just playing around with it.

Was a great value for the price, too.

If you're looking for a quality point and shoot digital, you can't go wrong with this one.

Great, but ! - Fred A. Burki -
The Nikon S3000 arrived in quick time and in good shape. The only problem I have with Nikon is NO MANUAL. es, there is one on line but that's amess and too much to print out. I asked Nikon for a printed copy .00 but they said "OUT OF PRINT"

I am from the old school and like to have a manual.

Excellent camera for the price !!!! - Sivaramsekar Pandiasekar - Fresno,ca
Small sleek and nice camera, response time is great for the price of camera and nikon has improved a lot on the photo quality.

The only problem i did not like was it did not have a wall charger for the battery, the camera has to be connected to the charger to charge which i did not like, otherwise and overall a very nice point and shoot camera.....

Lowepro Fastpack 200 (Black)

Lowepro Fastpack 200 (Black) Review

See more picture

I recently bought this backpack for a trip to Peru. I was uncertain, at first, as to which camera bag would fit my needs, but ultimately decided on the Fastpack 200 (red, like a beautiful autumn sunset). This sweet baby was so choice! I don't have a lot of camera equipment (the Fastpack 100 would've been suitable), but what drew me to this backpack was the extra room up top. I was able to fit my various small accessories (sunglasses, small electronics, etc), a jacket and small souvenirs in the top compartment (Note: the jacket made it a pretty tight fit). The camera/lens storage area below is spacious and sturdy (like a prison cell). Also like a prison cell, it kept my equipment (prisoners) on lock-down when I wanted it safely stored away from each other in separate compartments (or cells). A DLSR, 2 lenses, and a point-and-shoot only filled it half-full (with a backpack this great, how could it be half-empty?). The stiff padding protecting my equipment left me with no need to worry about my precious cargo. The shoulder straps are comfortable, even after wearing the backpack for hours. Lastly, the quick access side-zip deal was smooth, and it was very easy to access my camera and put it away. My only qualms with the Fastpack are: 1) There's no good place to attach a tripod. 2) The zipper on the camera compartment would stick a little on zip-up after a lot of use (but it's not really a big deal).

I highly recommend this product for anyone who needs a good bag that can hold more than just a camera and its accessories. It's a great vacation camera bag. Plus, it has plenty of sex-appeal!

Lowepro Fastpack 200 (Black) Feature

  • Side Entry Compartment provides easy access to D-SLR equipment and accessories
  • Dual Compartment Design ensures camera protection while supplying storage space
  • Features 180-Degree access panel with adjustable dividers
  • Outer accessory pockets provide external storage for other accessories with fast access
  • Tough, water-resistant outer fabric protects against moisture and abrasion
On streets or trails, you can shoot all day when you wear the lightweight, comfortable Fastpack 200 backpack from Lowepro. It protects a digital SLR with a mid-range zoom lens attached, plus 2-3 extra lenses or flash units, audio player, and other gear. You won't mis a shot, because the side-entry compartment lets you quickly grab equipment and accessories, without having to take the backpack off! Customize the easy-to-access main compartment with adjustable dividers, use the outer organizer to keep large accessories handy, and manage memory cards with a built-in pocket. Brethable, contoured shoulder straps distribute weight evenly.

great camera bag but not for small person - CLP - Oklahoma
I bought this camera bag for a trip to Yosemite and just for around town. It is excellent quality but for me it is just too big. I am a small person only 5'3" with small frame and this bag is overwhelming for me. It is great for my husband. Lots of pockets and well thought out arrangement. I returned this for the fastpack 100 only because of the size. One thing I like better about the 200 is that it will hold a bigger size water bottle than the 100. I love the upper pocket to hold food or whatever you need on a dayhike.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH1 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Black) Review

I don't profess to be an expert on digital cameras; my many years of photography involved mostly 35mm film cameras (primarily SLRs and boat loads of accessories). I purchased my first digital camera about 7 years ago (an Olympus Camedia C-4000Z, followed by a Lumix DMC-Z20, both of which still perform like new). However, these cameras are somewhat bulky and don't lend themselves to carrying around to catch spur-of-the-moment shots. Wanting something small and easily carried in a shirt or pant pocket, I began my research.

I was somewhat disappointed to find that many small, ultra-compact digital cameras from some of the best known brands (Nikon, Canon, Olympus and others) really didn't have great reviews from users, at least those in the sub-0 dollar range (which I was targeting). Having been impressed with my first Lumix, and seeing many high marks bestowed upon a number of Lumix compacts and sub-compacts, I narrowed my search to that brand.

When I noticed that Amazon was running a special price on this particular Lumix that had the features I was seeking, it was easy to make the choice. Receiving the camera after only a few days from order, I immediately bought a 2gig SD memory card (although the camera itself will hold 40mg of images, which is not much), read the manual a couple of times and began shooting. I was impressed by the quality feel of the camera, and liked the fact that the lens (that great Leica quality is a big plus) has a retracting cover. As I expected, the quality of the photos (from fully automatic functioning) was top-notch. I took various indoor shots in different lighting conditions, and then I took it outdoors and clicked off dozens of photos, all the while trying various adjustments available. One can change the sensitivity (ISO) from 80 all the way to 1600 if desired. Color selections include normal, natural, vivid, black & white, sepia, `cool' (a bluish tinge) and `warm' (a reddish tinge).

One can set the picture size from 4000x3000 (suitable for up to 16" X 20" enlargements) down to 640x480 (for email attachments or web photos), as well as 4000 X 2248 for 16:9 display on a high-def television or computer monitor. As with most other digital cameras, other settings can be adjusted as well (i.e. white balance, red eye removal, , etc.).

Although it came with software (imaging and a PDF version of a more advanced manual than the paper one supplied), I was unable to load it in my PC (apparently my `service pack' needs to be upgraded). Undaunted, I simply took the card out, inserted into the computer's card reader and presto, pulled the pictures up, and saved to a file (the camera came with a USB cable to allow direct connection to a PC or hi-def monitor too).

After fiddling with photo transfers a while, I then took numerous shots using the 5X optical zoom (most digital cameras in this price range only have a 3X optical zoom). The zoom action was smooth and quick, and images showed no distortion. I was able to photograph a pileated woodpecker from about 50 feet with the zoom maxed out, and the resulting picture was worthy of framing. Lumix's `Mega Stabilization' feature works great; I took a pic of a cat jumping and caught it in mid-air without a hint of blur.

The camera also records video with sound; one can select from hi-def (720p) down to QVGA (four setting options available). I recorded a few video segments in hi-def of a few minutes each (it will record up to 2 gigs of hi-def video). Playing them back on the camera yielded fantastic quality; when I showed the videos to people, their jaws dropped over the image quality. However, it is worth noting that while one can play back smooth video on the camera, playback on a PC or hi-def monitor will result in a jerking, fragmented playback (sort of like a video downloaded from a dial-up modem) UNLESS a `class 6' memory card is used (most SD cards are class 2, fine for photos but not for big-screen playback). While I intend to get a class 6 memory card, I didn't buy this camera to use as a camcorder, so this is not a big issue for me. It should also be noted that it is not possible to use the zoom feature when recording; while it would be nice if it did, I was aware of this prior to buying it, so obviously it was no show-stopper.

A few more points; the rechargeable battery comes without a charge, and it takes about 100 minutes to fully charge (a charger is included). I've had the camera two weeks now, have taken about 300 shots and 4 short HD videos, and the battery still has some charge left. The time from one shot to ready for another is about 2 seconds. The camera's small size (3.9" by 2.2" by .9") makes it easy to slip in a shirt or pant pocket. I keep mine in my suit coat pocket during working time, but use a small padded case attached to my belt at other times. I can whip it out and have it snapshot ready in less than 4 seconds now!

I really can't identify anything negative about this camera, with the single exception of the inability to zoom while video recording. Unless that is important to you, then there is no reason not to seriously consider this excellent little camera.

Great little snapper! - Ad-man - Sydney Australia
I purchased this camera on a recent trip to Thailand. I have a Lumix FZ28 that I LOVE but it is somewhat cumbersome to carry around so I wanted a little "snapper" I could whip out easily on the spur of the moment when something funny happened in a bar or nightclub or I wanted a quick snapshot of something happening on the street or whatever. It was important to me that the camera be small and not a pain to carry around. I did NOT want to spend a lot of money since I already own a great camera so this little Panny seemed, at first glance, to fit the bill nicely.

First off, for these perpetually whining types who only seem to write reviews to complain about what a camera DOESN'T do and how it pales in comparison to their SLR's etc, lets clarify what this camera actually IS first of all.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH1 is a camera designed with simplicity in mind. There are NOT a lot of advanced functions. You have normal shooting mode, Panasonic's acclaimed, amazing Intelligent Auto mode, (makes it hard to take a bad photo- seriously!) a bunch of pre-set scene selections and video mode. In normal shooting mode, white balance, ISO and focus modes are pretty much all that can be adjusted. In Intelligent Auto mode, it's even less. This is a camera designed NOT for advanced photographers that demand maximum control over their photos, but for normal people that want to take great photos with a minimum of fuss- the kind of people that wouldn't know (or care) what aperture priority mode means and are not interested in spending days or weeks pouring over their cameras instructional manual to learn all the advanced features it has. The kind of people that want to unpack their new camera and start snapping straight away! On this level, keeping in mind it's target audience, the camera succeeds.

What you DO get for your modest amount of money is a compact, well built little camera from a TOP manufacturer featuring a 12 megapixel sensor, a 28mm wide angle lens, 5 x optical zoom, Panasonic's tried and proven "Mega optical image stabilization", lightning fast auto-focus, focus assist lamp, the ability to shoot high definition video with sound and outstanding picture quality for a VERY reasonable price. A few years ago, a camera with these features would have cost a small fortune, now it can be had for peanuts and you will be thrilled with the quality of pictures it takes as long as you are not expecting something that will give your SLR a run for it's money!

Anyone in the market for a cheap snapper, who does not demand a great deal of control over camera settings but still insists on excellent performance and image quality should give this little gem some serious consideration. Panasonic has created yet another winner! Five stars.

Tamron Autofocus 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II Macro Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Tamron Autofocus 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II Macro Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras Review

I purchased this lens about 3 months ago for my Nikon D200 because I was tired of changing lens. I am getting sharpest pictures from it as I am getting from my Nikon 18-105mm lens. This is an all in one lens. I went to vacation with it and I was able to take a lot pictures easily by zooming in and out. It zooms well and I was able to capture a picture of small flying aircraft about 1000 feet up in the air clearly. No more lens changing needed. When in low light, it does have some problems focusing. The only way I found to correct that issue is change your position then it should focus. I have been using SLR cameras for about 9 years but I am not a professional photographer. So you should not take this review as a professional advice.

Tamron Autofocus 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II Macro Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras Feature

  • Since the lens is designed exclusively for digital SLR photography, it provides high image quality in terms of resolution, contrast and flatness of image field
  • It employs a new optical system designed to confine the changing angles of incidences of light rays reaching the imager within a certain scope over the entire image field from the center to the periphery, by considering the effects of variances due to zooming
  • Peripheral light fall-off is minimized when compared with that of conventional lenses for film cameras so that images are uniformly bright from the center to the periphery
  • Complicated mechanisms are built in the compact body thanks to new mechanical artifices. The lens is a multi-purpose zoom lens, yet excellent portability and ease of use are assured. A number of invisible engineering innovations required to downsize the lens, produce high precision parts and increase durability are incorporated in the new AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO
  • Compatible w/ the following D-SLR cameras: Nikon D50, D70s, D80, D200, D2Xs, D2Hs & earlier models plus the Fuji S5 Pro & earlier models
The Tamron AF18-200mm high power zoom lens features an entirely new optical design using XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass in an innovative way in order to optimize the overall distribution of optical power throughout the entire zoom range. This design reduces various aberrations to the absolute minimum and achieves remarkable downsizing at the same time. In addition, three hybrid aspherical lens elements and two LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements are used to accomplish effective compensation of on-axis and lateral chromatic aberrations, a critical factor to enhance the optical quality in digital photography. As a result, the lens provides outstanding optical quality in a multi-purpose zoom lens. A glare-reducing flower-shaped lens hood is included as a standard accessory. The special hood provides optimum shading of superfluous light rays that enter from the rectangular frame outside the image field. It employs a new optical system designed to confine the changing angles of incidences of light rays reaching the imager within a certain scope over the entire image field from the center to the periphery, by considering the effects of variances due to zooming. Complicated mechanisms are built in the compact body thanks to new mechanical artifices. The lens is a multi-purpose zoom lens, yet excellent portability and ease of use are assured. The Nikon COOLPIX S3000 has all the features as advertised. D lighting is excellent as well as the automatic scene selection and BSS. However, there is one flaw i have noticed in the little time that i have had the camera. When the zoom feature is enabled some photos come out smudged. Parties/people that have taken pictures with my camera also encounter this problem intermittently. Not all photos come out clear. I have yet to determine the cause of this smudged look as hands appear stable when taking photo. Notwithstanding this one flaw, when pictures are clear they are really clean and beautiful. I am satisfied with the camera overall.

I received this camera a couple of days before my son's graduation. I took it with me and:
1) Was impressed with the zoom. It did as well a SLR being operated be a guy in the seat in front of me. And it slid in my pocket as needed. Needless to say; not so for his SLR.
2) Solid construction. It feels robust. Metal body, no flexing parts. Buttons are quite usuable, one dedicated for movie taking makes access to that feature easy. Powser switch is a slider - sensible and functional - reduces the likelehood of being pressed accidentally.
3) Doubles as a video camera. As the light faded into the evening it proved to make quality movies even in poor light. And captured the sounds quite well.
4) Picture quality was noticably superior to the Nikon compact I was previously using. And image stabilization helps in low light. Similar to my Sony Alpha SLR in picture quality. This is a marked step up for a compact.
5)Three hours of intermittent assorted movie and photo taking did not even reduce the battery bar count by one.

It was a great success in recording my son's event.

It uses a large CCD (1/2.3") and is more feature-rich than I will likely ever delve into.

It comes with a compact charger wal-wart for the battery that is a nice feature.

I had to use the software application that came with it to watch the videos, but have not done much research yet with AVCHD Lite.

The GPS does not work indoors, I have not played with it yet; did not see it as a critical feature. Very small antenna.

Overall my first impression is this is one sweet camera. There are plenty of models out there, this stands high in the list of products in the mid-300s. I would recommend it to a friend. Or You!

Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the Leica Elmar lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful images any time, any place. Thanks to the intelligent resolution technology, the intelligent zoom is available with the DMC-ZS7 which extends the zoom ratio by approximate 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. You cannot get support to use the movie option. Panasonic is pathetic with hours on hold and no help - Aurelia Nova - ny usa
the camera comes with software to make the clips if this is why you want the camera. It did not update for me and is a bit low quality. I called panasonic becduase the error message you get states this. the agent takes no real information but keeps putting you on hold for 20 min at a time. the is no reason for it. In the end they do not offer any help for you. they know nothing about the software and keep you waiting for no reason. If you want this camera for the special HD movie feature buy another company where they care about your time and have people who know something. I tried three agents. All the same joke.

Good but loud zoom motor while recording video, wimpy flash - Lord Kill - Hell, Hell
Pretty good.
Somewhat noisy sensor. Noise reduction smears lots of details and makes anything above ISO 200 look awful. Even ISO 80 you can see lots of noise (even in good light).
Using the camera outside was enjoyable. There are so many different settings to tweak (intelligent resolution, auto-exposure, etc.) you could have a ball. Usually I just set it to minimum sensitivity, Program Ae, auto white-balance. Noise reduction -2!!!!!

The video feature was the best I've seen in digital cameras (720p, AVCHD Lite). unfortunately, it had one very annoying drawback......while zoooming during video recording, there was a very annoying sound. It made it unusable in my opinion.

The flash is extremely underpowered. Taking a picture of my son from 5 feet away forced the camera to use ISO 400 to get a decent exposure. At this sensitivity, his face looked more like a painting than a photo. This is par for the course for pocket digicams, so it's understandable. Just warning you, if you're going to be using this camera indoors with the flash, I think you'll be dissapointed.

I really really REALLY wanted to love this camera, unfortunately I must return it, even though it was ALMOST a great camera. There is no digital camera out now with all these features that meets my expectations, so alas I have to wait another year.
4-stars, because most people will thing it's hunky-dory.
